- 1982 - Born in Kagathei, Churachandpur district, Manipur, India
- 1998 - Was inspired to take up boxing after Dingko Singh's success at the Asian Games.
- 2000 - Won her first state boxing championship and kept it a secret from her father.
- 2002 - Won her first World Championship medal in Antalya, Turkey.
- 2003 - Received Arjuna Award for boxing.
- 2006 - Received the Padma Shri Sports Award.
- 2007 - Awarded the contender for Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award.
- 2008 - Received the Pepsi MTV youth icon award and also received the title of Magnificent Mary.
- 2009 - Became the international boxing Association Ambassador.
- 2010 - Received the sportswomen of the Year from the Sahara Sports Award
- 2012 - Became the first Indian female boxer to win an Olympic medal, a bronze in London.
- 2013 - Received Padma Bhushan for sports.
- 2014 - Won her first Asian Games gold medal in Incheon, South Korea.
- 2016 - Nominated as a member of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian parliament.
